Memo:
This article discussed the comparison of a drama techinque known as "tableau" and how it is different from Readers' Theater. The biggest difference between the two strategies is that tableau incorporates the use of students' bodies whereas Readers' Theater is the students actually reading from a script and using their voices to convey the meaning. In Readers' Theater, the props, setting and acting skills are not emphasized, but rather the students' reading fluency and their interpretation of the text. Tableau would be a strategy that I think would be best used in a theater classroom although it could also be used in the regular classroom as a different way for students to express meaning from something they read.
